MotionWorks Participating in the Fox Valley Medical Mentoring Program

This summer MotionWorks Physical Therapy is proud to again be a business partner in the Medical Mentoring of the Fox Valley program that gives high school students the opportunity to formally job shadow medical specialties like physical therapy right here in the Fox Valley!

Medical Mentoring of the Fox Valley has been recognized with a Silver level award from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. The award recognizes the ongoing support of organizations contributing to the Business Friends of Education program and their commitment to helping students.  “It is vital that we continue to emphasize talent development and commit to bettering our communities so we can develop future employees and Wisconsin-based employment opportunities for our youth,” said Tony Evers, Wisconsin State Superintendent.

Orthopedic & Sports Institute’s Dr. David Eggert founded the mentoring program in 2006 as a way to enhance career aspirations of high school students by providing job shadowing experiences with area medical professionals.  Initially begun with 13 students from Appleton East High School, the program now offers opportunities for over 100 students from 16 area high schools at nearly 30 provider sites all over the Fox Valley.

The program represents a significant portion of the future of the medical community, and each year program graduates attest to the power of the experience. “I am so grateful to have had this experience in the medical field because it helped me decide which area of medicine I wanted to pursue,” said Hortonville’s Hayley Vandenboom.
