You can’t beat the views across Wisconsin this time of year. The reds, golds, oranges, and even browns of fall paint a brilliant vista one could only dream of. But quite honestly, the best views are the ones that I have, wearing my rose colored glasses. You see, this pair of sunglasses I have owned for at least four years seems like any other ordinary pair of trendy shades, inexpensive, but useful for driving and other low-key outdoor excursions. However, at this time of year, they transform my perspective into something magnificent, so much more brilliant than viewing fall colors through the naked eye, I would venture they make all of those fall colors 40% brighter and downright iridescent. It’s truly amazing! I even take my glasses off for a second to see the difference, and yes, wow, I am never giving up these sunglasses! Not for anything!
Wouldn't you like to have a pair of sunglasses like that for everyday life? You see someone stealing your parking place, but no, looking through your glasses, there’s one even closer to the door just up ahead. Or getting the news that someone you love has just been diagnosed with cancer. No worries, you say, through my rose colored glasses all I see is a gentle rain. And then a friend or next door neighbor loses their job. My rose colored glasses can only see a better job prospect right there for the taking.
The ups and downs of life happen to all of us. If we are seeing a perfect bouquet of red roses one minute, just wait, and soon the petals will be dried up and scattered all over the floor in pieces. That’s how life works. It’s the beauty of life really. Whether we are riding our highest high, or our lowest low, give it time, and this too will pass. Which is where those rose colored glasses come in. If you are on your highest high, pass those glasses along to someone else who could use them. If you are on your lowest low, feel free to take those glasses and try them on for size to find a new vision, and hope for what is ahead. And for the rest of us somewhere in between, may we find the beauty around us, and share grace, hope, love, and caring to lift up the people around us in need. If for no other reason, because your time too, will come where a pair of rose-colored glasses will find you just when you need them.
As for me and my pair of rose colored glasses, I’m afraid I just can’t part with them, but I’d be happy to give you a glimpse, anytime!
